START clears approval threshold in US Senate; voting continues

WASHINGTON, Dec 22 (Reuters) - The New START nuclear arms treaty with Russia has cleared the two-thirds majority needed for approval by the U.S. Senate. The Senate is continuing to vote on the issue and is expected to conclude shortly.
