JOHANNESBURG, Feb 11 (Reuters) - South Africa’s state power utility Eskom [ESCJ.UL] said on Wednesday it had in excess of 20 days average coal supplies at its power stations.
“All the stations have in excess of 20 days stockpile,” Eskom Chairman Bobby Godsell, told an energy conference in Johannesburg.
Eskom, which is struggling to meet demand for electricity and has been rationing power since the national grid nearly collapsed in January last year, plans to spend a total of about 343 billion rand ($34.53 billion) over five years on new power plants. (Reporting by Muchena Zigomo)
