(The following was issued by Israel’s Orca Interactive, a subsidiary of Viaccess)

March 23 - France Telecom, Europe’s number one provider of IPTV services under its Orange brand, has selected Orca Interactive, an innovation leader in IPTV middleware and applications and a Viaccess subsidiary, to provide the COMPASS Content Discovery and Recommendations platform for the implementation of a multi-screen content discovery and recommendation solution across all the Orange TV related services.

Orca’s COMPASS includes a variety of recommendations engines to provide a blend of personal, optimized recommendations to TV, PC and mobile users.

With COMPASS, Orange subscribers will be able to easily discover content that is relevant for them, resulting in more customer satisfaction and higher conversion rates.

Since Orange offers a variety of content services, being able to pro-actively assist customers with their purchase decisions becomes a crucial factor for increasing the ARPU.

COMPASS comes pre-integrated with Orca’s world-class IPTV middleware, RiGHTv, so France Telecom will benefit from seamless integration and rich functionality.

“The advanced TV technologies of today have really revolutionised how people think about television. This project exemplifies the degree of personalization that operators will need to offer in order to stay competitive,” commented Francois Moreau de Saint Martin, CEO of Viaccess and Chairman of Orca Interactive.

“We are committed to protecting and enhancing the value of content services for TV operators and we are thrilled at the chance to prove this with France Telecom”.

Haggai Barel, CEO of Orca Interactive, added: “COMPASS is a game-changer with respect to an operator’s ability to put content in front of those who value it most and are willing to pay a premium, regardless of the context or device being used.

“It is an extremely powerful blend of a customer-oriented approach towards user experience and operator-focused tools that increase the penetration of content services and help optimize the revenue per user. Working with France Telecom and the variety of content services that they offer will certainly pose a challenge and I look forward to all of our innovation and creativity being put to the test.”
