Orsted beats profit expectations thanks to new wind farms

COPENHAGEN, Aug 8 (Reuters) - Orsted, the world’s largest offshore wind energy developer posted second-quarter operating profit above expectations on Thursday thanks to ramped up power generation from new offshore wind farms.

The Danish company, formerly known as DONG Energy, reported earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 3.6 billion Danish crowns ($540.6 million), beating the 3.1 billion crowns forecast by 11 analysts in a poll compiled by Orsted.
