PROFILE-Philippines' Central Bank Governor Amando Tetangco

Position: Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor

Incumbent: Amando Tetangco

Term: Six year term ends July 2011; has been reappointed for a further six years

Key Facts:

- As governor, Tetangco is also the Chairman of the Monetary Board, Anti-Money Laundering Council and Philippine International Convention Center; Vice-Chairman of the Agriculture Credit Policy Council; Member of the Capital Market Development Council, Export Development Council, PhilExport Board of Trustees, Philippine Export-Import Credit Agency; and Director of Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation, National Development Council and National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation.

- Tetangco is a career central banker, having joined the BSP in 1974 after working for an accounting firm for about a year. He was Alternate Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund in Washington from 1992-1994.

- Tetangco studied economics at the Ateneo de Manila University, graduating cum laude, and holds an MA in Public Policy and Administration at the University of Wisconsin.

- He is an avid target shooter and golfer.
