U.S. to crack down on indefensible tax breaks: Geithner

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said on Monday the United States would take steps to end “indefensible” tax breaks and loopholes that unfairly benefited some companies and well-off individuals.

“We believe in a level playing field. Unfortunately, we have a tax code that gives businesses that invest and create jobs overseas a competitive advantage over those who invest and create jobs at home,” Geithner said at an event with President Barack Obama at the White House.
