LISBON, Jan 14 (Reuters) - Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann said on Friday that Portugal deserves confidence in its efforts to stabilise the economy.
“Portugal has shown that it is able to meet what is demanded,” Faymann told journalists after meeting Prime Minister Jose Socrates. “I think the government deserves all our confidence.”
He said Socrates had told him that he has no intention of asking for a bailout like Greece and Ireland. (Reporting by Daniel Alvarenga; writing by Axel Bugge)
