6.5 magnitude earthquake hits off Papua New Guinea

WASHINGTON, Feb 1 (Reuters) - A 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Papua New Guinea on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake’s epicenter was 78 miles (125 km) west of Arawa on the island of Bougainville at a depth of 46.4 miles (75 km).

There were no immediate tsunami warnings or watches.
