July 16 (Reuters) - BioForm Medical Inc BFRM.O, a maker of aesthetic products, said U.S. health regulators approved a method of mixing its wrinkle-fighting injection with local anesthetic, lidocaine, sending its shares up as much as 44 percent.
In clinical trials, the technique of mixing the dermal filler Radiesse with lidocaine showed an improvement in patient comfort and an increase in patient satisfaction, the company said in a statement.
Shares of the company were up 22 percent at $2.49, making them one of the top percentage gainers on Nasdaq. They touched a high of $2.94 earlier in the session.
