Elbit, IAI get $141 mln Turkish Air Force deal

JERUSALEM, Dec 25 (Reuters) - Israel’s two largest defence contractors said on Thursday they had won a joint $141 million contract to supply the Turkish Air Force with combined airborne imagery intelligence systems.

The deal was awarded to units of Elbit Systems ESLT.OESLT.TA, Israel's largest private defence firm, and state-owned Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), the country's biggest defence company.

Elbit’s share will be $87 million, while IAI will receive $54 million, the companies said in a statement.

The project's prime contractor will be Turkish military electronics manufacturer Aselsan ASELS.IS.

Deliveries will be made over a four-year period and will be done by Elbit Systems Electo-Optics and IAI unit Elta Systems.

The contract will become effective when Elbit Systems Electro-Optics and Elta have completed the process for providing performance bonds for the project, which should take place in the comings weeks, the companies said.
