BANGALORE, March 11 (Reuters) - Chevron (CVX.N) said Friday its refineries in Hawaii and California were prepared for the tsunami alert issued in the wake of a huge earthquake off the coast of Japan.
“We are monitoring the situation and taking the appropriate actions to prepare and respond,” company spokesman Sean Comey stated in an email.
The company owns a 54,000 barrel-per-day refinery in Honolulu, Hawaii, a 265,500-bpd refinery in El Segundo and a 245,271-bpd refinery in Richmond, California.
A tsunami warning was issued for the entire Pacific basin except the mainland United States and Canada after a huge earthquake struck off the coast of Japan earlier. [ID:nL3E7EB0Y0] (Reporting by Soma Das and Antonita Madonna Devotta in Bangalore)
