Exxon's Sarpom CDU restarted after September fire

Nov 19 (Reuters) - Exxon Mobil (XOM.N) said on Friday a crude distillation unit at its Sarpom refinery in Italy, which had been shut after a fire in September, was back in operation and gradually resuming normal production.

“After the unit was released from seizure on Oct. 23, repairs were completed and required technical checks and controls were undertaken to allow the safe restart of the unit,” a refinery spokeswoman said in a statement.

Sarpom refinery, which refines about 7 million tonnes of crude oil a year, located in Trecate, near Milan, is 74.1 percent owned by Exxon Mobil and 25.9 percent by Italy’s refiner ERG (ERG.MI). (Reporting by Koustav Samanta in Bangalore; Editing by Marguerita Choy)
