French intelligence services probe Renault spy scandal

PARIS, Jan 7 (Reuters) - President Nicolas Sarkozy’s office has asked France’s DCRI intelligence service to probe suspected industrial espionage at carmaker Renault (RENA.PA), and is investigating a possible link with China, a government source told Reuters on Friday.

“The Elysee has charged the DCRI with an investigation,” the source said.

Renault, which is investing heavily in electric vehicle technology, declined to comment.

China is pushing green vehicles heavily as part of the development of the country’s auto industry.
