April 27 (Reuters) - Chipmaker RF Micro Devices Inc RFMD.O posted fourth-quarter results above Wall Street expectations, helped by strength in 3G wireless and share gains in Asia, and said it is fully booked for sequential revenue growth in the June quarter.
For the fourth quarter ended April 3, the company, which makes chips for mobile phone companies like Nokia NOK1V.HE and Motorola MOT.N, earned $26.7 million, or 10 cents a share, compared with a loss of $58.7 million, or 22 cents a share a year ago.
Excluding items, the company earned 16 cents a share.
Revenue rose 51 percent to $260.8 million.
Analysts on average were expecting RF Micro to earn 11 cents a share, excluding items, on revenue of $240.2 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
RF Micro said it expects fiscal 2011 reveue and adjusted profit to increase over fiscal 2010 results.
Shares of the Greensboro, North Carolina-based company were up 3 percent at $5.66 in after-market trading Tuesday. They closed at $5.49 Tuesday on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Manasi Phadke in Bangalore; Editing by Don Sebastian)
