Russia govt approves Wimm-Bill-Dann sale to PepsiCo

NOVO-OGARYOVO, Russia, Dec 28 (Reuters) - Russia’s government commission on foreign direct investments and strategic sectors approved Wimm-Bill-Dann‘S WBD.N acquisition by PepsiCo (PEP.N), commission member Igor Artemyev said on Tuesday.

    Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said PepsiCo haD pledged to invest around $1 billion in Russian juice and dairy company Wimm-Bill-Dann, which it is buying for $3.8 billion. [ID:nLDE6BR11L]

    The commission member also said the commission declined a request from Russia’s cell phone operator Megafon to transfer assets to offshore Nordic firm TeliaSonera TLSN.ST. (Reporting by Gleb Branski; Writing by Andrey Ostroukh)
