S.Africa's Eskom says legal separation of business units could take 48 months

JOHANNESBURG, Aug 23 (Reuters) - South African state power firm Eskom said in an internal presentation to executives that the planned legal separation of its business units could take 48 months in total.

Separating the transmission business unit into a separate state-owned company could take up to 60 months, the presentation seen by Reuters said.

An Eskom spokeswoman confirmed that the company’s “executive forum” had met on Aug. 22 and said Eskom was meeting stakeholders on its turnaround plan. She said aspects of the turnaround plan could change, depending on those meetings. (Reporting by Alexander Winning; editing by David Evans)
