Samsung, Toshiba sign cross licence deal on chips

SEOUL, June 22 (Reuters) - Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930.KS), the world’s biggest memory chip maker, said on Monday it had signed a cross licence deal on semiconductors with Japan’s Toshiba Corp (6502.T).

Samsung said in a filing with the Korea Exchange the deal licenses both companies’ patented technologies related to chips, without elaborating.

Toshiba is the world’s No. 2 supplier of NAND flash memory chips behind Samsung. (Reporting by Rhee So-eui, Editing by Jacqueline Wong)
