NEW YORK, Feb 10 (Reuters) - Sigma-Aldrich Corp SIAL.O, which makes chemicals used for scientific research, posted a better-than-expected 10 percent gain in fourth-quarter profit and increased its quarterly dividend by 10 percent.
Earnings rose to $92.6 million, or 75 cents a share, from $84.3 million, or 68 cents per share, a year earlier.
Analysts had on average forecast earnings per share of 72 cents, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Revenues rose 12 percent to $573 million, topping the $561 million that analysts had forecast. (Reporting by Matt Daily; Editing by Lisa Von Ahn)
