U.S. House panel chair says ready to OK Hurricane Harvey relief funds

WASHINGTON, Aug 29 (Reuters) - The head of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Appropriations Committee said on Tuesday the panel was prepared to provide the funding needed to cover recovery efforts after Hurricane Harvey.

“My committee stands at the ready to provide any necessary additional funding for relief and recovery,” Republican Representative Rodney Frelinghuysen said in a statement. “We are awaiting requests from federal agencies who are on the ground, and will not hesitate to take quick action once an official request is sent.” (Reporting by Tim Ahmann; Editing by Peter Cooney)
