Tropical Storm Julia becomes hurricane in Atlantic

MIAMI, Sept 14 (Reuters) - Tropical Storm Julia grew to hurricane strength over the far eastern Atlantic Ocean on Tuesday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

Julia, the fifth hurricane of the Atlantic hurricane season, reached hurricane status with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph (120 kph) located some 330 miles (535 km) west of the Cape Verde Islands, the center said.
