IN BRIEF: Songwriters hope to shake off loss in copyright suit against Taylor Swift

Two songwriters will seek to convince the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday to revive their copyright infringement lawsuit against Taylor Swift over the refrain in her 2014 pop hit, “Shake It Off.”

A federal judge in Los Angeles last year dismissed the lawsuit that Sean Hall and Nathan Butler filed in 2017, accusing Swift of copying from “Playas Gon’ Play,” which they wrote in 2001 for R&B group 3LW.
