SANTIAGO, July 22 (Reuters) - Telefonica Chile CTCa.SN, Chile’s leading fixed-line operator, on Wednesday posted a net profit of 22.48 billion pesos ($42 million) during the first half of 2009, up 25 percent from the year-ago period.
The company said profits jumped on lower operational costs, improved performance in its broad band and paid television businesses, and services to companies.
Telefonica Chile said gains at its broadband and paid television services offset losses on its landline telephone business.
