UPDATE 1-Mexico's Televisa loses Slim as advertiser

MEXICO CITY, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Mexico’s Televisa said tycoon Carlos Slim is not advertising with the broadcaster this year, the latest shot in an escalating war between the two sides for a stronger presence in the telecommunications market.

Top Mexican broadcaster Televisa (TV.N) (TLVACPO.MX) said Slim’s companies Telmex TMX.N TELMEXL.MX and Telcel, the commercial brand of giant cell phone company America Movil (AMX.N) (AMXL.MX), had opted not to advertise.

Televisa Executive Vice President Alfonso de Angoitia told analysts during a conference call Friday morning that Slim’s group companies accounted for 3.8 percent of Televisa’s 2010 broadcast revenue and 1.5 percent of consolidated revenue.
