Televisa, La Sexta mull merging with bigger player-source

MEXICO CITY, Jan 28 (Reuters) - Mexico’s leading broadcaster Televisa and Spain’s La Sexta have held talks with different players aiming to merge the Spanish company with a bigger media conglomerate, according to a source with direct knowledge of the discussions.

Televisa is a stakeholder in La Sexta. “We have been in talks with different players in the Spanish market to merge La Sexta with them,” a Televisa (TV.N) (TLVACPO.MX) source told Reuters on Friday. “The idea ... is to be part of a larger group that can compete more efficiently.” (Reporting by Cyntia Barrera Diaz)
