Nickelodeon goes dark for kids' health

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter)- Nickelodeon is joining the fight against childhood obesity by encouraging kids to turn off the TV.

On September 29, the children’s network and its sister stations, including Nicktoons Network, Noggin and Nick G.A.S., will go dark from noon-3 p.m. in honor of the fourth annual Worldwide Day of Play.

Nickelodeon will return to air with a “SpongeBob SquarePants” marathon followed by the half-hour season finale of the “Let’s Just Play Go Healthy Challenge,” which features two 13-year-olds who undertook a six-month challenge to become more active and get healthier.
