LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - John Noble has been tapped as one of the three leads in “Fringe,” Fox’s high-profile sci-fi drama.
“The Wire” co-star Lance Reddick also has been cast in the project from J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
The two-hour pilot revolves around a young female FBI agent who is forced to confront the spread of unexplained phenomena and work with Dr. Walter Bishop (Noble), an institutionalized scientist whose work might be at the center of the coming storm.
Reddick will play Phillip Broyles, special agent for Homeland Security who heads the special Fringe division, established to investigate a series of terrorist/paranormal events. (Tomas Arana had been erroneously confirmed as cast in the role).
Australian-born Noble played Denethor in “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.”
Reddick, who plays Lt. Cedric Daniels on HBO’s “The Wire,” will next be seen in the big-screen feature “Tennessee.”
