LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The CW’s “Gossip Girl” has become fall’s first new series to get a full-season pickup.
The network has picked up the “back-nine” episodes of the poorly rated drama series, bringing its total order to 22 episodes.
“Gossip,” based on the popular series of young-adult novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, follows privileged prep school teens on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
It has gotten off to a soft start since its September 19 debut, losing a significant portion of its lead-in from “America’s Next Top Model.” However, the CW said the show has been gaining buzz online and on platforms like iTunes, where the two most recent episodes rank among the top five downloaded shows. It is averaging 3 million total viewers at 9 p.m. Wednesdays.
