3rd Circuit rejects challenge to Tennessee Gas pipeline

A federal appeals court has rejected an environmental group’s challenge to a permit for a pipeline planned by Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co to increase transport of natural gas from the Marcellus shale field.

In a decision on Wednesday, a three-judge panel of the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers had adequately considered alternatives and environmental tradeoffs before signing off on a Clean Water Act permit for the project.
