Thales supports Dassault bid to increase stake

PARIS, Nov 21 (Reuters) - French defence electronics group Thales (TCFP.PA) fully supports efforts by warplane maker Dassault Aviation (AVMD.PA) to become the company’s largest private shareholder, a senior Thales executive said on Friday.

“Dassault is already a shareholder in Thales and we consider this movement friendly and we support it totally,” Reynald Seznac, CEO of Thales Alenia Space, said at a briefing for reporters.

Dassault this week entered exclusive talks to buy the 20.8 pct Thales stake held by Alcatel-Lucent ALUA.PA.

Seznec said the move would not affect Thales Alenia Space, 67 percent owned by Thales and 33 pct by Finmeccanica SIFI.MI.

ThalesAlenia Space expects to increase revenue by an average 3 to 5 pct in coming years despite the financial crisis, he said. (Reporting by Tim Hepher; Editing by David Holmes)
