TOKYO, May 10 (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp said it will try to resume full production as soon as possible following Japan’s March 11 quake, but insisted it is sticking to an earlier estimate that normal output will not resume until November or December.
Toyota was responding to a report by the Nikkei newspaper that said its production will be back to pre-quake levels two to three months earlier than the automaker had predicted.
“Currently, as we said on April 22, our forecast isn’t for normal production until November or December,” said Toyota spokesman Paul Nolasco. “It’s important to resume production as soon as possible and we are preparing to get most of the heavy lifting dome early,” he added.
