WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. State Department said on Friday Britain’s request for the extradition of a U.S. diplomat’s wife who was involved in a fatal car crash in Britain “would be highly inappropriate.”
“The use of an extradition treaty to attempt to return the spouse of a former diplomat by force would establish an extraordinarily troubling precedent,” a department spokesman said in a statement.
