(Reuters) - United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called on all parties to resolve disputes in the South China Sea “in a peaceful and amicable manner through dialogue and in conformity with international law,” his spokesman said on Tuesday.

“It remains important to avoid actions that would provoke or exacerbate those tensions,” U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters.
