MADRID (Reuters) - Spanish Socialist leader Pedro Sanchez urged lawmakers ahead of a key vote on Tuesday to back him and his coalition with left-wing Podemos party, saying there was “no other option.”

“I trust that we can overcome the atmosphere of irritation and tension and that we can recover a space for consensus and for agreement,” Sanchez told parliament ahead of the tight vote on whether he will be confirmed as prime minister, which he is expected to win after months of gridlock.
