ANKARA (Reuters) - Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci has sent a letter to U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross seeking an exemption from new U.S. import tariffs on steel and aluminium, a Turkish official said.

Last month, U.S. President Donald Trump imposed import tariffs of 25 percent on steel and 10 percent for aluminium. An adviser to President Tayyip Erdogan said at the time that Turkey could respond with its own measures.
