Vienna court decides against detaining Ukrainian businessman Firtash

VIENNA, Feb 24 (Reuters) - A Vienna court decided on Friday to not to detain Ukrainian tycoon Dmytro Firtash, three days after a decision to extradite him to the United States on bribery allegations and his simultaneous arrest on Spain-based accusations of money laundering.

“The application to impose provisional detention pending surrender was dismissed,” the court said in a statement.

The decision was based on a bond being deposited, Firtash not being allowed to leave Austria and his passport being handed over to the court. (Reporting by Kirsti Knolle, ed)
