Ukrainian court asked to detain ex-PM Tymoshenko

KIEV, July 27 (Reuters) - A state prosecutor asked a court to detain Ukraine’s former prime minister, Yulia Tymoshenko, on Wednesday during a trial on charges that she abused her post during her term, her office said.

The court is due to rule on the prosecution’s motion later on Wednesday, according to a statement published on Tymoshenko’s website.

Tymoshenko has dismissed all charges against her as politically motivated and Western governments have expressed concern over her case. (Writing by Olzhas Auyezov)
