Disney announces 3D home video releases for 2011

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Disney Studios is making a big push into 3D home entertainment, announcing it plans to release at least 15 films in Blu-ray 3D in 2011.

Among the titles will be the 3D debut of animated classics “The Lion King” and “Beauty and the Beast,” as well as recent movies “Tangled” and “Tron: Legacy.”

The movies will be packaged with the 2D Blu-ray versions.

The titles slated for release in 2011 are of the more contemporary variety and include “Bolt,” “Meet the Robinsons,” “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “G-Force” and “Chicken Little.”

The push to 3D in the home is partly made possible by the company’s growing library of 3D movies.

No dates were specified in the announcement.
