FACTBOX: Security developments in Afghanistan

KABUL (Reuters) - Below are security developments in Afghanistan reported by 0930 GMT on Thursday.

KABUL - A car bomb hit an Italian military convoy on a road between the U.S. embassy and the main airport in the center of Kabul on Thursday, killing six Italian soldiers and three Afghan civilians, Afghan and Italian officials said. Nearly 40 Afghan civilians were also wounded, hospital doctors said.

KANDAHAR - A suicide bomber killed two civilians and wounded eight people including three Afghan army soldiers in an attack on Wednesday in southern Kandahar province, the Afghan defense ministry said.

SOUTHERN AFGHANISTAN - A British soldier died on Wednesday of wounds he had suffered from an attack while on patrol in Afghanistan’s southern Helmand province, Britain’s Ministry of Defense said.

NIMROZ - Afghan police killed four militants in an operation on Wednesday in Nimroz province in the southwest, the Afghan Interior Ministry said.
