China says Xinjiang attackers influenced by foreign organizations

BEIJING (Reuters) - China said on Friday that the people who carried out an attack which killed 31 people in the capital of the country’s troubled Xinjiang region appeared to be influenced by “terrorist” organizations outside China.

China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei also said at a daily news briefing that the attackers were influenced by religious extremism seen on the Internet.
