BRDO, Slovenia (Reuters) - Turkey should be allowed to join the European Union, U.S. President George W. Bush said on Tuesday.
“We strongly believe Turkey should be a member of the EU,” Bush told a news conference after a summit with the 27-nation bloc’s top officials in Slovenia.
Turkey started EU accession talks in 2005, but their progress is slow, with some EU leaders opposing its membership.
