Singer Faith Evans arrested in LA for drunk driving

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Singer and actress Faith Evans was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving on Saturday after being stopped at a police checkpoint in a Los Angeles beach community, police said.

Evans, 37, the widow of murdered rapper Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G” Wallace, showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol when she was pulled over at a checkpoint near Marina del Rey. She was held for four hours and released pending formal charges, police said.

Evans, who won a Grammy in 1998 for her Wallace tribute “I’ll Be Missing You,” spent 13 weeks in a drug rehab program after being arrested in Atlanta in 2004 and charged with cocaine and marijuana possession.

She was reported in February to be filming a reality TV show marking her planned comeback to the music industry after a five-year absence.
