"Freaks and Geeks" creator wedded to Wiig comedy

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - “Freaks and Geeks” creator Paul Feig will direct a wedding-themed comedy starring Kristen Wiig.

The untitled Universal project centers on two women battling to plan their friend’s wedding party. Wiig wrote the screenplay with Annie Mumolo.

Feig directed 2006’s “Unaccompanied Minors” but it’s in TV where he has made his mark, as one of the key directors for both “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation.” Other credits include “Weeds” and “Arrested Development.” He has also written three books, including “Superstud: Or How I became a 24-Year Old Virgin.”

“Freaks and Geeks” lasted only 18 episodes when it aired during the 1999-2000 television season, but it provided a career launching pad for such actors as Seth Rogen, James Franco and Jason Segel.
