Bulgarian PM: compromise on posted workers directive within reach

VARNA, Bulgaria (Reuters) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said on Friday he believed European Union member states could find a compromise on contested labor regulation by the end of the year.

Speaking at a news conference with French President Emmanuel Macron in a Bulgarian seaside resort, he also said EU governments should tone down any confrontation with Poland and Hungary.

Earlier in the day, Macron, who is meeting central European leaders to discuss the EU’s posted workers directive, said Poland was isolating itself within Europe.

“Poland and Hungary are not only our friends, they are also part of the European Union. It is damaging for EU countries to go into open confrontation,” Borissov said.
