(Reuters) - FuelCell Energy Inc said it sold a 1.4 megawatt fuel-cell power plant to privately held G3 Power Systems Inc, the first under an agreement providing the company non-exclusive distribution rights for fuel-cell power plants.
FuelCell Energy, which makes fuel-cell power plants for electric power generation, said it will service the power plant under a five-year service agreement.
The power generated by the fuel-cell plant will meet almost all of the power needs of the Olivera Egg Ranch LLC, a poultry ranch in California, where it will be located and expected to be operational by mid 2011.
Novato, California-based G3, which provides fuel-cell installations along with engineering and construction services, entered into an non-exclusive distribution rights agreement with FuelCell in March.
Shares of FuelCell were up 2 percent at $1.21 Tuesday morning on Nasdaq.
