Gambon enters future world of "Book of Eli"

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Michael Gambon is joining the cast of “The Book of Eli,” which stars Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman.

Gambon will play one half of a strange couple who hold onto old traditions in the futuristic tale.

Washington stars as a lone warrior traveling across a wasteland version of America in the not-too-distant future.

Allen and Albert Hughes (“Menace II Society,” “From Hell”) are directing the feature, from an original story by Gary Whitta, with a script rewrite by Anthony Peckham.

Gambon reprises the role of Albus Dumbledore in the sixth installment of the Harry Potter franchise, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” which opens in July.
