U.S. business group urges coordinated coronavirus reopening response

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday called for a coordinated effort to reopen amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, but urged against any federal, state or local public health guidelines becoming regulations that could harm businesses as they seek to restart.

“To the maximum extent possible, guidance should be generally consistent across federal, state, and local governments,” the top lobbying group for the nation’s business sector said in a statement, adding that policymakers should “refrain from converting public health and safety guidance into regulations that may add further challenges for businesses to reopen.”
