Heinz sees "very strong" Q3 earnings

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - HJ Heinz Co HNZ.N on Wednesday said it expects to report “very strong” third-quarter earnings per share, helped by improved margins and growth in its emerging markets business.

The food maker also said it will launch Heinz infant formula in Russia and China.

The company said it expects to report third-quarter earnings of about 82 cents per share from continuing operations. Analysts, on average, have expected 71 cents per share, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

Heinz also said it now expects full-year earnings per share from continuing operations of $2.82 to $2.85. In November, it forecast $2.72 to $2.82 per share.

The company will report third-quarter results on February 25. Its third quarter ended January 27.
