Iran MPs approve minister wanted by Argentina: media

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran’s parliament approved on Thursday the president’s choice of new defense minister, Iranian media reported, a man Argentina says was involved in the 1994 bombing of a Buenos Aires Jewish center that killed 85 people.

Defense Minister-designate Ahmad Vahidi was approved by MPs, the Mehr and IRNA news agencies reported. Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had nominated him as a member of his next cabinet following the disputed June election.
