Italy arrests Iraqi over planned attack in Iraq

MILAN (Reuters) - Italian police arrested an Iraqi man on Friday on suspicion of preparing an armed attack in Iraq and charged him with belonging to a group linked to al Qaeda.

A police special operations group arrested the man in Padua, northeastern Italy, and said he had bought equipment in Italy with which he planned to carry out an attack in Iraq.

The man, whose name was not given, is being held on charges of “association for the purposes of international terrorism”.
