France says generals negotiating Gbgabo's departure

PARIS (Reuters) - French Prime Minister Francois Fillon said on Tuesday two Ivory Coast generals are negotiating the surrender of incumbent President Laurent Gbagbo.

“As we speak we are speaking to two generals to negotiate President Gbagbo’s surrender,” Fillon told members of parliament.

French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe earlier told Reuters Television he was aware of negotiations for Gbagbo’s departure.
